A fine quality Walnut Louis XV1 style French table with hinged top/19c
A recent amateurish attempt at repair to the broken leg has created a very difficult restoration problem/ the previous repair has degraded the available core interior wood of the joint- the previous attempt at repair via an ill-fitting dowel and thick glue have to be removed before correct restoration can begin
The finish to the top is damaged and needs to be polished over as tape was stuck to the surface creating several bad areas of finish loss
The tenon joint at one side is completely loose and needs to be cleaned out and closed properly- the joint damage would appear to be in tandem with the leg break from shipping
Undo previous repairs to repair the broken leg /restore the finish of the top as discussed/ oil and wax base/glue joint
