I have worked on pieces worth only a few hundred dollars and pieces worth well into the six figures and the labor charges are the same, a client is paying me for my time and experience to complete the project at hand, and this does not fluctuate up or down based on the value of the item being worked on. A chair worth $200.00 receives the same high standard of work as a chair worth $50,000.
If a piece has to be transported by a third party shipping company this charge is paid in advance by the client to the company hired. The only time shipping companies would be involved is for out of state clients, most if not all local projects can be picked up and returned without third party assistance/expense.
If I am asked to do work that is outside my range of restoration skills I will tell you at the time of the initial estimate. The approved estimate will become a detailed work order that will include the final price and it will also give an accurate completion date. The complete estimate will be given after a very close inspection of the piece(s). Payment is due upon completion of the agreed work, I accept cash, checks or paypal.
